Delicious Roasted Turkey

Roast a turkey with apples and onions for a wonderful fall flavor.
 

Ingredients

  • Turkey (approx. 12 lbs.)
  • 1 apple, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  • melted butter or margarine
  • salt & pepper to taste

Method

Rinse turkey (after removing giblets) and pat dry. Sprinkle inside and out of turkey with salt and pepper. Place apple, onion and garlic in cavity. Close cavity with skewers. Lift wingtips up and over back so that they are tucked under bird. Brush bird with melted butter. Place turkey in roasting pan, breast side up. Bake 3 - 3 1/2 hours (meat thermometer should reach 185) at 325. Baste often with juices. Cover with aluminum foil if it browns to quickly. Allow to stand 30 minutes before carving.
