Autumn Fruit Crisp

Fresh apples, pears, plums and grapes with a sweet and crunchy topping made with oatmeal and walnuts or pecans.
 

Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 2 cups apples; peeled, cored and sliced (3-4 medium apples)
  • 1 cup pears; peeled, cored, sliced (2 medium pears)
  • 1 cup plums; pitted and sliced (3-4 plums)
  • 1 cup seedless grapes, red or green
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl prepare fruit and set aside. In a small bowl mix together remainder of the filling ingredients. Add mixture to the fruit and toss until thoroghly combined. Arrange fruit in an 8 x 8 casserole dish. In another small bowl combine all of the topping ingredients except the melted butter and mix well. Add butter and blend until moistened. Sprinkle over fruit mixture, covering all areas. Bake 25-30 minutes, or until filling is bubbly and top is golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

 

Notes: Recipe can easily be doubled and baked in a 13 x 9 casserole dish.
