Asian Green Beans and Mushrooms

Green beans with mushrooms in a sauce with teriyaki, garlic and almonds.
 

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen French cut green beans
  • 1 (8 ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons buter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Method

In a large skillet bring chicken broth to a boil. Add green beans and mushrooms and cook covered on medium to high heat for 5-7 minutes. Uncover and add teriyaki sauce, reduce heat to medium and continue cooking for 5 more minutes. Meanwhile in a small skillet heat butter over medium high heat and add garlic and almonds. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently until garlic and almonds are golden. To serve place green bean and mushroom mixture on a serving platter with any remaining liquid, drizzle almond butter mixture.

 

Notes: This is our new "green bean" casserole. I thought I'd try it one instead of the usual one with soup mix and French fried onions.
